3.14 Pi(e) Day III

It’s March 14 again, and that means it’s time for what I’ve officially decided is my favorite holiday of the year… Pi(e) Day! Back by popular demand, we held our 3rd Annual Pi(e) Day Party.

To gain entry to this coveted event, you must home-make a pie. Bonus points if you invent a pie (not that points count for anything haha). Pie can be savory or sweet, we only discriminate against store-bought! In our best showing yet, we had 17 pies this year!

Savory Pies

In the savory category, we had 6 incredible pies. Enough to fill you up before even a nibble of sweet pie (but there’s always room for dessert!).

Alyssa made a Timballo in Crosta di Ricotta. This amazing creation was a ricotta crust filled with pasta, ham, chicken, and peas.

Cindy made a Chicken and Leek Pie. It felt wrong to break into such a perfect lattice crust, but I quickly forgot my guilt once I tasted the scrumptious filling.

Colin made a Curried Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash Pie. This vegan pie controversially beat out pork to be crowned “Supreme Champion” at the British Pie Awards this year!

Jesse made a Fish Pie. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the name – it was filled with fish, veg, and cheese all in a yummy sauce.

Erin made a Tomato-Chèvre Tart. I loved the placement of the various tomatoes against the goat cheese filling.

Nelson made a Pork Belly Pie. Genius! Enough said.

Sweet Pies

Don’t slip into pie coma yet… have a shot of espresso and grab your fork because there are still 11 sweet pies to go.

Sheana made a Key Lime Kumquat Pie. Kumquat is definitely an under-utilized fruit!

Anthony made a Crack Pie with Pecans. This is the famous Milk Bar recipe, plus he hand-shelled pecans from his family’s tree in Texas.

Erin made a Strawberry Crunch Pie. The topping used cornflakes, which did give it a great crunch!

Alex made a Banana Cream Pie. The cream got a bit flattened in transport, but it still tasted great.

Kris made a Bourbon Cherry Pie. This was my favorite out of all the sweet pies this year.

Riley made a French Silk Pie. And what a gorgeous toasted topping!

Jeff made a Key Lime Pie. Can’t go wrong with this classic.

Kamy made an Apple Pie. Of course we had vanilla ice cream, and of course I ate this a la mode.

Heather made a Blueberry Lavender Earl Grey Pie. Clearly this was hands-down the most stunning pie.

I made a Pina Colada Pie (find my Guessipe here).

Erin and Mollie made a Lemon Cream Pie. Their pie was setting in the fridge when we started the meal, so I figured I would have time to take a pic of it after they took it out and topped it. But even with 17 pies, our ravenous pie-devouring crowd demolished the pie before I managed to snap a pic. I may have been a bit busy stuffing my own face as well, but alas no glamour shot of the Lemon Cream Pie.
